About Us

In 2015, individuals representing state and federal agencies, non-governmental organizations, local businesses, and others convened for the Central California Coastal Wildlife Disturbance Summit to share and discuss marine wildlife disturbance issues. From the summit, the Respect Wildlife Campaign was born to address wildlife disturbance issues and educate the general public about safe wildlife viewing practices.
Our strategy is to define, establish, and instill a norm of responsible behavior in the presence of marine wildlife.

  1. Raise awareness of the impact disturbance can have on wildlife;
  2. Positively influence human behavior near wildlife;
  3. Encourage and spread the word;
  4. Engage existing and foster new partnerships, and
  5. Unify existing wildlife protection communication and education.
